Flagella are long thin spiral like structure. It is free at one end and attached to the cell on the other end of a surface. Flagella are extended from the internal surface of the bacterial cell body. They are mainly made of flagellin protein.




Pili are short,thick and hair like a straight structure. They are found in gram negative bacteria. They are mostly composed of pilin protein.
